From getting her hands dirty on the farm to selling the finest diamonds, Reshmi Singh has forged a remarkable path from humble beginnings.

Born and raised in Nawaicoba, Nadi, Ms Singh is the eldest of four siblings.

She epitomises the brand of success that is deeply rooted in strong work ethics, loyalty and diligence.

“I’m a daughter of a farmer; actually my dad’s main commodity was sugarcane and mum, she just did domestic duties,” Ms Singh said.

Ms Singh attended Nawaicoba Public School and Sri Vivekananda High School.

Life seemed promising until her academic journey faced a significant hurdle in 1987 due to unforeseen circumstances.

“I couldn’t do my form six because of the unexpected situation.”

With determination, Ms Singh’s grandfather advocated for her return to school and she resumed her studies to complete Form 6.

After school, she initially worked on the family farm before an uncle recognized her potential and helped her secure a position at a retail outlet, where she began her professional career as a stock coordinator.

After three-years in her first job, Ms Singh transitioned to Prouds, starting in a junior role but quickly ascending the ranks due to her dedication and hard work.

“I started as a stock coordinator. From there I was promoted as an executive buyer.

In 2000, she was promoted as a retail manager, a position she held for 23-years until late last year when Reshmi was promoted as the general manager of Prouds.

“I have been with Prouds for 32-years.

“And yes, I can say I have succeeded a lot in this company.”

Ms Singh attributes her success to her experiences, the challenges she faced along the way and to her loving and caring husband.

“Behind every successful married woman is a caring and loving husband who wants his wife to be successful in life,” Ms Singh said.

“My husband Pradeep who was in Air Traffic Control Tower is the one who motivated me to join Prouds.

“He has always supported me in everything I wanted to achieve and if it was not for his unwavering love and support, I would not have been in this position today.

“While further education is also important, I firmly believe that my achievements stem from the relentless work ethics and the knowledge gained through practical experience.”

Ms Singh is also a devoted mother to her 29-year-old son, who is a lawyer at Munro Leys.

Describing him as ‘my heart’, she emphasises the importance of kindness and compassion – two core values she instills in both her personal life and her relationships with colleagues and customers at Prouds.

“For the younger generation, Reshmi offers a simple yet powerful advice: “If you work hard, you’re going to succeed.

“I will continue to work for Prouds, that’s my future. As long as I’m happy, I will work for Prouds.

“Like the diamonds we have here on display, the more I’m cut, carved and polished, the more I shine,” she said.
