Help bring us closer to a cancer free future
NADI – Wednesday, 7th August 2024. What began as a humble gesture 19 years ago has today become the biggest fundraiser awareness drive for Fiji Cancer Society. The prestigious Bushells Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea (BFBMT) campaign which started way back in 2006 in a small way has over the years helped save the lives of thousands of cancer patients around the country by providing crucial patient care and support while creating awareness and advocacy on cancer at the same time.
This iconic event which we know as the Bushells Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea has provided patient care and support and helped save the lives of thousands of patients over the years and is believed this is a major achievement not only for the Fiji Cancer Society but for everyone here at Motibhai Group also as a wonderful way to demonstrate corporate social responsibility. The campaign which is the longest running and biggest cancer fundraising initiative in the country is playing an important role in spreading cancer awareness, advocacy and patient support.
Fiji Cancer Society (FCS) CEO Belinda Chan said it is a sad reality that
most Fijian families are being impacted by cancer either directly or indirectly at some stage in life.
“They will have a family member diagnosed, may lose someone to cancer, or they may receive a diagnosis themselves. These Fijians include your staff, customers and their families,” Ms Chan said
She said the impact included financial and emotional stress on patients, care givers, children, and families while disrupting home life as even after treatment, patients would be subjected to adapt the “new normal”.
“By holding a Bushells Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser you will help us reach out to more Fijians with cancer awareness, advocacy and patient support,” Ms Chan added.
This year, Fiji Cancer Society aims to raise close to $90,000.00 to purchase medical oxygen concentrators and pulse oximeters through this year’s Bushells Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea initiative.
Motibhai Group has already contributed $15,000 to Fiji Cancer Society at the start of the Bushell’s Morning Tea Campaign in May 2024. Furthermore to kickstart today’s morning tea, the Group has add an additional $2,001 and with the assistances of Prouds Duty Free Stores, Nadi Airport has contributed $9,500.
The morning tea hosted by Motibhai Group, Nadi this morning raised over $35K.
